Baked Black Mission Figs with Honeyed Goat Cheese

I’m pretty sure this was the first recipe I ever cooked successfully. It was a long time ago. Long before I started this blog. Before I started really working toward a paleo lifestyle. I found it by googling “goat cheese and fig recipe”. I had never eaten a black mission fig before. But I was no stranger to goat cheese. I wanted this to be an appetizer, but it was like an appetizer/dessert all in one. I didn’t burn it, or forget anything, or use the wrong type of oil. I mean, its only comprised of 5 ingredients, but you’d be surprised at the damage I can do in the kitchen. I’ve had my share of mishaps. Olive oil in a batch of brownies.”Over night apple oatmeal” that resulted in my roommate just scraping black burnt flecks out of the crock pot. The macaroon incident (s). There are more. So many more. But I’m going to tell you right now, if you want to fool people into thinking you are an amazing cook, or if you’d like to start out simple as you make your debut in the kitchen, start right here. Oh and if you’re new here, I eat goat cheese. I’m not sorry.

Oh my god. Black mission figs. Eat every single part. They are so good. They taste sweet like a fruit, with no acidity or bitterness. I don’t know too much about them, but I know I love them. I put them right in salads. You can only get them in the summer, so it’s a real treat for me!!

LOVE this!! I’ve also never cooked with figs, but this sounds like it tastes amazing! I love that brand of goat cheese–I use it all the time for goat cheese stuffed chicken…it’s the BEST!

We went to Costco today and they had giant packs of green figs. I had just read this recipe so I bought some. I made a few tonight for a little treat for me and my husband and they were so good! I’m looking forward to cooking the rest of the figs in the package!
