I can’t really tell you the last time I spent two consecutive weekends in the same place. Do you know what kind of packing anxiety forms when you always have to leave for work on Friday morning, knowing full-well that you won’t be back to your apartment until Sunday or Monday? How much underwear do I need? Will these shoes serve 12 purposes? Can I get away with wearing the same pair of pants for three days? Not to mention the things you don’t even realize you need until you’re 60 miles from home or the added factor of unexpected New England weather. For those who don’t know: it’s about a 3 on the anxiety scale, but it’s anxiety none the less.
James and I live in RI (have I mentioned I hate RI? I have. Ok just checking), but both of our families and all of our friends live scattered throughout Massachusetts. Until we can move back there, I’ve accepted two small truths: my car needs to be my best friend and my weekend bag needs to be my other best friend. The three of us? My car, my bag and myself? We spend a lot of time together.
I first discovered Everlane in the fall when I was looking for some cozy long sleeve shirts to layer, but their Weekender bag stole my heart in the winter. Due to my constant travel, I’ve had a small overnight bag for a few years that has served me well. It’s gone from Boston to NYC to Denver to Paris, and while I love that little worn out carryon, I always felt limited in what I could pack. When I spotted the Everlane Weekender, I could already imagine the multiple pairs of shoes, jackets and get-ready necessities that would fit inside! Of the six color choices, I went with the grey bag with a navy stripe. It’s canvas and leather and waterproof on the inside with all sorts of pockets and a studded bottom for when you need to put it down on the ground at the train station (how romantic) and I love it. I use it every four days and I can fit two or three outfits, two pairs of shoes, pajamas, my giant makeup bag, a hairdryer, roll brush and my camera! It’s a ten on the perfect size scale. It’s my new best friend.

Yeah, you were right. THAT BAG IS AMAZING.
Also, I’m in love with Everlane now thanks to you. It is so simple and perfect! (and the price is so right.)
I want… everything. Le sigh.
I want all the sweaters and all the tees. All.
SO SO CUTE! love the outfit – and as always, your voice on your blog! “my car, my bag, and myself” had me laughing out loud.
Aw thank you Christine!! If I can make you LOL I’ve done my job!!
Ohhh, that bag is perfect!!! I’ve been looking for a new “weekend” size bag so maybe I’ll check it out
you’re going to love it if you do. I promise.
pretty pics! i need a bag like that.. cause when it’s work here, home there, boyfriend way over there.. its a lot of packing.. plus i don’t have a single bag that ZIPS.. i practically pack in a beach bag every time >;(
ps my car is my bff too.
Nice bag!! Someone must think you’re pretty special to give you that cool bag
Your hair is luscious.
Also, I am jealous of your bag. I want a weekender bag so badly, and by profession I am required to only have ugly black regular bags. MY LIFE IS SO HARD.
But really, Everlane should take notes and send you some goods. You make them look great.
Well, you should invest in an off-duty bag!!! And I’ve never had my hair called luscious before, it took me 12 years to not have color in my hair and it feels amazing.
I have yet to find a good weekend bag– probably because when I go away for the weekend I pack for a week! I might have to try one of these out!

Do you think going paleo (and/or sugar free) changed your hair texture and do you think your skin got better?!
I never had problems with breakouts but lately my scalp gets oily quickly and I get breakouts easily…. thinking about going paleo – i raided your blog but can you give me more deets about that or the links to posts I´ve might had missed
thanks!
xo
Hey Martie!! I’m pretty sure that this Friday’s Dear Jenna is going to be an answer to this quesion, but simply put: yes. It also has a lot to do with my skin care regimen (oil cleansing, post here: http://www.paleo-project.com/skincare-routine-the-oil-cleansing-method/ ) and as for hair… I can’t be sure, but I stopped coloring my hair around the same time I went Paleo. So basically, the more natural/organic I’ve become with food and cosmetics, the better it’s got. But check back Friday for more detailed answer to that!!
Thanks so much jenna!
Can´t wait for friday
well I switched to Bobbi brown cosmetics and their facial cleansing oil which made a huge difference. I am off the pill which made my hormones freak out
i dye my hair every 8 weeks – due to my genes I already start with gray hairs here and there which freaks me out :-/
i just really think diet would make all the difference.
