10 Outfits: Summer Work Wear

Day one, I rise with an alarm clock. Oh sweet Jesus, I have a job. A job. A real. live. job. Straying from the norm, James has to work during the day today and for the entire week. I think some higher being made this all come together because somehow it was known that I would need a little extra help adjusting. I’d need someone to make sure I got out of bed. Someone to force me to eat breakfast. Someone to iron my skirts. Yes, he rises without hesitation, he cooks my meals and because he knows I will probably put an iron-shaped burn on everything I own, he presses my clothes. I am a child.

Aside from actually landing a job, I’m thrilled about the date. It’s May 21st. I’ve never started a job in May, but man, I recommend it. Starting a job while the weather warms up, while the light comes out early and stays out so late, it just makes the transition from unemployment to employment seemless. Children should start school in May. Companies should only hire in May. All babies shall be born in May from this day forward. Amen.

I decide that I’ll play it safe the first week and alter my wardrobe to mirror that of my coworkers. After two days I realize there is no way I could possibly mirror the style of my coworkers and will instead live in a uniform of pencil skirts and blouses until fall arrives.

In the winter, when I was dressing for work, I wrote this post ”Building a Wardrobe.” This line from the post still rings true:

I believe in a wardrobe made up of safe neutrals and statement pieces. This combination will ensure that you have lots of choices, always look unique, but are always dressed well. Ready? Set… Go.

Fashion Post: In The Summertime…

Press play ^

Hat – Tory Burch | Shorts – Urban Outfitters | Top – Free People | Bracelet – Stella & Dot | Necklace – Stella & Dot | Bag – Marc Jacobs

I’ve been a fan of trilby hats since before I knew that word (so, before yesterday). I link it with my love for (and obsession with thinking I’m a younger version of) Jennifer Aniston.

I mean, we have the same initials, hair color and adorable “oh here I am walking off of a plane with my security guard” look.

Name one difference between me and Jennifer Aniston. You can’t!!!

Anyway, I recently received this Tory Burch Panama Trilby as a gift. I have this thing where, if I get something new, I need to where it right. this. second. Personally, I think this type of hat is best worn on the beach, but I wasn’t going to the beach. So I wore it to breakfast. And then the park. And then lunch. And then around my apartment. I like to dress as casually as possible when I wear something like a Tory Burch fedora to breakfast. It says “Oh this? I just threw this on. It’s laundry day. I’m so casual.”

I write posts like this and wonder how James stands me.

Are you a fan of fedoras?

Shirt – Mink Pink | Pants – H&M | Wedges – Aldo | Bracelets – Alexis Bittar | Sunglasses – Tory Burch

Floral pants are everywhere!

For only $14.95, I was determined to get the above pair from H&M.

Below are a few pricier pairs that I think are adorable, but wouldn’t break the bank for.

Look: HereHere. Here and Here!!!

How are we feeling about this new trend?

Can ya dig it?
