TwoFaced: Cocoa

In weekly installments, otherwise known as TwoFaced Tuesday, Melissa, blogger at CupcakesOMG, and I will choose a shared ingredient. Then, using our own culinary talents, we’ll make whatever delicious paleo dish we can think of. TwoFaced will be a dual blogging adventure. If you start here, you will finish there and vice versa. For the entire list of our TwoFaced creations, visit here. Remember, we love suggestions, if you’d like to see us make a recipe with your ingredient of choice, tweet @ThePaleoProject and @Mheraldo with the hashtag #twofacedtuesday.

Almost a year ago, I discovered a recipe for chocolate pudding while strolling through the aisles of Whole Foods. At the time, I was brand new to the world of food blogging, I was in the midst of my whole30, and I was litRALLY thinking of ways I could inject chocolate into my veins. It was rough time in my life. This recipe saved me. It was not just any old puddin’ recipe, either. I mean, this pudding was suited for Paleos and Vegans alike, it was raw, it was dairy-free, it was the chocolatiest pudding around. It had avocado in it. AVOCADO.

I know that part of the TwoFaced honorary code goes something like raising up two fingers and saying, “I promise to be pretty, to make Paleo dishes, to use a shared ingredient, to not repeat recipes I’ve already made and to live by the girl scout law….” but sometimes, I break the rules.

And here are the top reasons:

1. I tried to make Chocolate Covered Bacon and it did not go well.

2. Sometimes I feel bad for the archives of my blog. I worked so hard on those posts, and it’s not their fault I only had 12 readers at the time.

3. This recipe fit perfectly into this week’s TwoFaced ingredient of cocoa and I’ll be damned if raw chocolate pudding doesn’t have its 15 minutes of fame.

4. I’m the boss.

Raw Chocolate Pudding Take Two

2 avocados
1 cup cocoa powder
1 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup dates
1 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt

Directions:

Place all ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth, rich and chocolatey pudding forms.

This looks soo good and this is one of the first paleo recipes that you have posted that I (being a non-paleo avid reader and commenter) could make because I currently have all these ingredients in my house!! The only problem is… I do not have a blender. I know, how pathetic. I’ll get back to you about this when I get one (on my wedding registry – when I get married – oh wait, when I get engaged, silly me!)

    That looks great!!
Oh and I love that fact that you used Dutch cocoa for this! Being from Holland myself, and while I´m not that much of a nationalist, I enjoy seeing Dutch products being used abroad. Anyway, great job on the pudding, I´m definitely going to try this!
